Up to 700 protesters were detained overnight in Belarus

Up to 700 people were detained in Belarus last night on charges of participating in unsanctioned protests, - reports the Belta news agency, citing the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

As Olga Chemodanova stated on the social network Telegram, the Ministry of Internal Affairs "continues to take all necessary measures to maintain law and order."

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, between August 9 and 13, 103 law enforcement officers were injured as a result of "illegal actions" by citizens, 28 of whom were taken to hospitals.

According to them, the police arrested two young individuals, aged 18 and 19, who were making "Molotov cocktails".

For the record, protests are taking place across Belarus since the announcement of the preliminary results of the August 9 Presidential election. According to preliminary results released by the country's Central Election Commission, incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko received 80.23% of the vote, while his main rival, Svetlana Tsikhanouskaya, won 9.9% of the vote.
