MIA releases statement regarding case of death of 11-year-old child in Terjola Municipality

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the police has not received a report about violence against a minor in the family and therefore they have not issued any restraining order against any member of the family.

"Due to the high public interest, we want to provide additional information to the public about the incident in Terjola district.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has not received any statement or notification about violence against a minor in the family. Accordingly, no restraining order was issued by the police against any of the family members.

The conflict in the family was recorded in 2010, on which relevant measures were taken, although no legal liability was established against any of the persons", - reads the statement.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in 2014, there was a verbal confrontation between the accused and his son-in-law, on which the relevant measures were taken by the police.

"We would like to emphasize once again that the priority for the Ministry of Internal Affairs is to effectively combat domestic violence and ensure an investigation tailored to the interests of the victim. We continue to pursue a strict criminal policy against the perpetrators", - reads the statement.

For the record, a teenager was found dead on August 23 in Terjola Municipality. The father of the deceased has been arrested. The investigation was launched on the charge of inducement to suicide.
