A patient, who was diagnosed with coronavirus at the Sokhumi hospital, died on his way to the Gudauta hospital, Sputnik reports.

According to the agency, on September 4, a 74-year-old patient, who was in serious condition, was admitted to the Sokhumi hospital. After it was confirmed that the patient was infected with coronavirus, it was decided to take him to the Gudauta hospital.

"The patient's condition deteriorated during transportation and despite the efforts of doctors, he died on his way to the Gudauta Central Regional Hospital," – reads the statement released by the so-called emergency headquarters.

According to the de facto authorities, a total of 516 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the occupied region of Abkhazia since the outbreak of the pandemic, 157 of which have recovered and 5 have died.
