Ilham Aliyev: I want all three countries of South Caucasus to be able to work together; we do this with Georgia, our close strategic partner and friend

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev says that Azerbaijan will fight until Armenia does not leave the occupied territories. "We will fight until Armenia does not commit to withdrawing troops from the occupied territories. I think Armenia is making a big mistake, because if they had listened to us from the very beginning, the war would have ended a long time ago and we would have been at the negotiating table," Aliyev told the BBC News.
Asked how he sees the future of the South Caucasus and whether he thinks the day will come when peace will be established between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Aliyev said it was possible and he wanted to see all three South Caucasus countries to cooperate.
"It is possible, but it depends not only on us, but also on the Armenian side. I want all three countries of the South Caucasus to be able to work together. For example, we do this with Georgia, our close strategic partner and friend. We have implemented so many projects with them. We have close relationship based on historical heritage, pragmatism and the balance of our interests. Why did Armenia become isolated? Because of the occupation," Aliyev said.
