State Minister says hotline has been activated and Geneva co-chairs have been notified relating to illegal detention of Georgia citizen

The hotline has been immediately activated and the co-chairs of Geneva talks have been notified relating to the illegal detention of Mirian Taziashvili near the village of Zardiantkari, - State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Tea Akhvlediani stated.

According to the Minister, intensive efforts continue together with international partners to ensure the unconditional release of the citizens detained illegally as soon as possible.

"Similar cases of illegal detention of Georgian citizens in the vicinity of the occupation line further complicate the already dire humanitarian situation on the ground, especially when the so-called checkpoint has been closed in the occupied Tskhinvali region for more than a year due to the pandemic, which restricts the local population’s access to medical care and splits families. In coordination with other relevant agencies of Georgia, we continue to work intensively together with international partners to ensure the unconditional release of our citizens detained illegally as soon as possible," - said Tea Akhvlediani.
