Sopho Kiladze was elected a member of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child

Sopho Kiladze has been elected a member of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, - the Georgian Parliament informs InterPressNews. According to the Parliament, this is the first case when a Georgian candidate becomes a member of the Committee on the Rights of the Child.

"Georgian candidate received 125 votes in the elections. Elections for committee members were held on November 24, as part of a meeting of member states of the Convention in New York. Sopho Kiladze will serve in the committee for 4 years, in the period of 2021-2024. The Committee on the Rights of the Child is a body of 18 independent experts that monitors the implementation by the member states of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and its additional protocols at the national level", - reads the statement.
