Person accused of illegal surveillance of journalist Giorgi Gabunia has had his charges aggravated

As part of the ongoing investigation at the Counterterrorism Center of the State Security Service of Georgia, on June 13, 2020, an arrested person with the name of Vasambek Bokov was charged with illegal purchase and use of a forged official document.

Information about it was shared by the State Security Service.

"As a result of operative-investigative actions, it was found out that the person arrested on charges of illegal purchase and use of a forged official document is a citizen of the Russian Federation - Magomed Gutsiev, who repeatedly crossed the Georgian border illegally using a fake passport issued in the name of Vasambek Bokov. On November 27, 2020, Magomed Gutsiev was charged with illegal surveillance and obtaining information about Giorgi Gabunia, a Mtavari TV journalist, under the first part of Article 151, the first part of Article 157, the first part of Article 344 and 362 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. Journalist Giorgi Gabunia will be granted victim status in connection with the case. The investigation is underway at the State Security Service Counterterrorism Center", - reads the statement.
