Confrontation occurred between the law enforcers and the population in the Afrika settlement, where the Tbilisi City Hall started dismantling the buildings. Locals do not allow workers to continue dismantling.
Locals say several persons were supposedly injured. According to the locals, there was no prior warning from the municipal inspection about the demolition of the buildings.
"They came suddenly after the elections, there was no warning, why did they not start ravaging us before the elections? I ask them to provide us with shelter so that the children have a house and a place to sleep", - said one of the locals.
For reference, the Tbilisi City Hall issued a statement noting that the municipal inspection had begun dismantling several illegally constructed buildings in the Afrika settlement of Samgori. According to them, as a result of the inspection, 12 cases of construction violations were revealed on the state-owned land plot, which was investigated by the Tbilisi Municipal Inspection this year. The investigation revealed that the buildings were located at the mentioned location without permission. The municipal inspection started the process of dismantling the buildings in accordance with the law, on the instructions of the mayor of Tbilisi municipality.
