All indicators refer to the incidence decrease in the country, - Amiran Gamkrelidze, the head of the National Center for Disease Control, said after the coordination session in the government administration.

According to him, at present Georgia ranks 8th in Europe and 12th in the world in terms of the infection rate.

"During the last month, especially in the last 2 weeks, there has been a decrease in the infection rate in the country. All the indicators are already decreasing.

If at the beginning of December we were in the first place according to the number of new cases in Europe and at some point in the world, now we are somewhere in the eighth place in Europe and 12th place in the world, meaning that this rate is decreasing, as well as the mortality rate. As you know, we have a mortality rate of 1% in the country and the recovery rate is quite good - 92%,” Gamkrelidze said.

According to him, all this indicates that the situation is calming down in the country, but it does not “give us any reason to calm down, as if we do not follow the regulations, the situation may worsen any moment”.
