Forest fires broke out in the Gagra district of occupied Abkhazia, Sputnik Abkhazia reports.

According to Roman Labia, a spokesman for the Abkhaz Ministry of Emergency Situations, specialists have left for the Gagra district to extinguish the fire.

The scale of the fire in Gagra has not been determined yet and the exact information will be known this evening.

"The main problem is that most of the fires are in hard-to-reach places. Firefighters have to fight with their bare hands," Roman Labia said.

According to him, the main cause of fires in Abkhazia is the human factor.

Roman Labia stressed that all fires in the Gali district were extinguished last night.
