Ministry of Education says 0.1% of school staff and 0.03% of students tested positive for coronavirus nationwide this week

As a result of intensive monitoring and mandatory testing, 0.1% of teachers and school administrative staff and 0.03% of the total number of students tested positive for coronavirus nationwide this week.

As InterpressNews was informed by the Ministry of Education, based on the request of the parents or the detection of the coronavirus case, 11 schools and 109 classes have switched to full-distance mode throughout Georgia this week.

According to the Ministry, teachers and school administrative staff are subject to compulsory testing of throughout Georgia. At the same time, representatives of the Ministry and local resource centers are monitoring schools. Norms in the public and private schools of Georgia are observed as much as possible, in order to ensure the appropriate sanitary-hygienic conditions.

“Along with the quality of education, ensuring the safety of students in schools is one of the top priorities of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. That is why, in order to prevent the virus, the Ministry is doing its best to ensure that schools have a supply of hygiene items”, reads the information provided by the Ministry.
