Pre-trial detention ordered for businessman Davit Kodua arrested for abusing his wife and child

Pre-trial detention has been ordered for Davit Kodua, a businessman arrested for abusing his wife and child. The mentioned decision was announced by the judge of Tbilisi City Court Roman Khorava.

At today's trial, the defense demanded that Kodua be released without a restraining order, while the prosecution demanded the use of pre-trial detention.

According to the judge, the defense could not convince him that no criminal action had been committed by Kodua.

"You could not convince me that there was no physical violence. The testimonies of the police and doctors, as well as the injuries, give me a basis to assume that violence has taken place," the judge said.

The businessman faces detention from 1 to 3 years if convicted.
