Carl Hartzell invites all elected Members of Parliament of Georgia to sign agreement at EU Delegation office today

EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell is inviting all elected Members of Parliament of Georgia to sign an agreement at the EU Delegation office today.

“To all elected Members of Parliament of Georgia: you are invited to sign the agreement at the EU Delegation, tomorrow (Tuesday) from 9am”, the Ambassador tweeted yesterday.

An agreement was reached between the government and some of the opposition parties yesterday. The document “A way ahead of Georgia” brokered by European Council President Charles Michel was signed at the Orbeliani Palace.

European Council President Charles Michel made a new proposal to the Georgian Dream and the opposition. According to the mediators' document, the persons assessed as political prisoners should be released within a week after the signing of the agreement between the government and the opposition. In addition, according to Charles Michel, early elections in Georgia should be called in 2022 if the Georgian Dream gets less than 43% of votes in the local elections.
