Badri Japaridze:  We must take all the steps that we can take as the opposition, along with our western partners, in order to make the Georgian Dream return to the spirit of the agreement

According to Badri Japaridze, leader of the Lelo for Georgia, the draft law on amnesty initiated by the Georgian Dream contradicts the spirit of the agreement.

“The draft law registered by the Georgian Dream contradicts the spirit of the agreement. We certainly did not expect that the Georgian Dream bill would be adequate for the agreement we joined. In this case, our response will be to expose this bill, to expose its vicious side. It contains many vicious elements. The opposition parties that entered parliament have registered an amnesty law that is in full compliance with the agreement we have reached with the involvement of our Western partners. Therefore, our next steps will be to expose the negative aspects of the bill, which was registered by the Georgian Dream, and to provide the public with full information on the spirit of the agreement, as well as to ask the Western partners to use all the levers to bring the amnesty bill into line with the verbal agreement and spirit underlying our agreement, called the Charles Michel Document. Therefore, we must take all the steps that we can take as the opposition, along with our western partners, in order to make the Georgian Dream return to the spirit of the agreement and to ensure that the amnesty bill is in compliance with what we have agreed on. There are many forces, including in the Georgian Dream, which did not want to sign the agreement. However, the agreement was reached and it should be protected and implemented," Badri Japaridze said.
