Georgia celebrates Independence Day on May 26. The planned events in the country on the occasion of Independence Day will begin in the morning.

The general rehearsal of the event dedicated to the Independence Day of Georgia was held on May 25 on Freedom Square.

As Chief Sergeant of the Defense Forces Giorgi Gogochuri told reporters, the event will be modest due to coronavirus. According to Gogochuri, 247 recruits will take the oath in a solemn situation. In addition, various armored vehicles will be presented at the event, and the ceremony will be closed by the flight of Su-25 fighter jets.

According to the organizer of the event, Tata Svanidze, the events will start at 11:00 and will be broadcast live.

"For obvious reasons, May 26 this year will be different. In accordance with the protocol, an oath ceremony will be held at Freedom Square, which will also be broadcast from 5 different regions. The event will be broadcast live at 11:00. Military planes will fly as part of the event this year, in the colors of the Georgian flag", - Tata Svanidze said.

According to Svanidze, General Kvinitadze will be interred at the Mtatsminda Pantheon today.

As Svanidze noted, at 20:00, a gala concert dedicated to the Independence Day of Georgia will be held at the Professional Opera and Ballet Theater, which will be broadcast live.

According to the organizers of the event, this year an oath ceremony will be held in places where it has never taken place before. For example, in Svaneti and on Paravani Lake - near Foka. In addition, the oath ceremony will be held in Mtskheta, Tbilisi, Adjara and Kakheti - near Nekresi.
