Tskhinvali KGB: Gakheladze's family, with the support of NGO, is planning a rally near the “border” of the Republic, any provocation will be prevented within the law

The so-called Security Committee of occupied Tskhinvali region states that any provocation at the "state border" of the "Republic" will be prevented within the law, - the RES agency reports.

According to the agency, the Security Committee says that during the June 15 meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism, the parties discussed, among other issues, the fate of Zaza Gakheladze, a citizen of Georgia, who is serving a sentence for "illegally crossing the state border and using weapons against the border authorities." Opposition forces in Georgia are trying to disrupt the negotiation process.

According to the so-called committee, on June 17, Davit Katsarava, leader of the public movement Power is in Unity, announced on his Facebook page about another "provocative initiative" planned for June 23, 2021, which aims to call on the Georgian authorities to take more action to release the convict.

„According to the statement issued by D. Katsaravi, Z. Gakheladze's family, with the support of a non-governmental organization, is organizing a protest rally near the border with the Republic of South Ossetia, after which the demonstrators intend to block the central highway. Given the nature of Power is in Unity activities, it is not ruled out that there may be an attempt to persuade demonstrators to cross the South Ossetian-Georgian border illegally," the Committee said.

According to them, the implementation of such provocative initiatives, no matter who initiates it, significantly damages the negotiation process.

The KGB of Occupied Tskhinvali emphasizes that any attempt to violate the administrative and legal regimes established on the "state border" will be prevented in accordance with "legislation". The so-called The Security Committee also calls on the competent authorities and citizens of Georgia to refrain from such actions.

"Any person who commits a crime on the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia is subject to punishment or other measures provided by the administrative and criminal law of the Republic. Exemption from liability and punishment is provided if there are grounds and conditions provided by law, but not as a result of political blackmail," the KGB said.
