Protesters clash with police in Batumi

A physical confrontation took place near the Government House of Adjara, where members of the opposition were holding a protest rally.

Activists and law enforcers clashed with each other after protesters painted the walls of the Adjara government building red, chanting: "Murderers go away!"

During clashes, law enforcers detained several protesters, which resulted in the irritation of other activists, who were not allowing police officers to transfer detainees.

As of now, the situation has been defused, although activists remain in the area.
