Nika Melia: My mayorship will end the tradition when the city council is an unconditional executor of the wishes and demands of the mayor

My mayorship will end the tradition when the city council is an unconditional executor of the wishes and demands of the mayor, - stated Nika Melia, Tbilisi mayoral candidate of the United National Movement and part of the opposition.

Melia recently addressed the public. He noted that the "National Movement" will not nominate majoritarian candidates in any of the districts of Tbilisi and will support the candidates selected by multi-party agreement.

"Our party will not nominate majoritarian candidates anywhere in Tbilisi, in any district, and will support candidates based on a common, multi-party agreement. That is why today I stand before you and declare on behalf of myself and my political union that my mayorship will end the tradition when the city council is an unconditional executor of the wishes and demands of the mayor.

My mayorship means that the multi-party council will not be my backyard, but will be my main controller and ally. It will ensure that I don't make mistakes and force me to do more and do better. My mayorship means that the chairperson of the council will not be a representative of my party. Today, Elene Khoshtaria and I are presented as representatives of a multi-party coalition. I, as a mayoral candidate from my movement, Girchi - More Freedom, which will present the vice-mayor in the near future, and Elene, as a candidate for the chairmanship of the City Council from her own movement", - said Nika Melia.

For information, Nika Melia addressed the public together with Elene Khoshtaria.
