The Department of Highways has started repairing the roads damaged as a result of the natural disaster caused by the heavy rains. The information about it is spread by the Roads Department.
According to them, as a result of heavy rain, an overflowing river damaged the bridge and the road on the Kutaisi (Tskaltubo turn)-Tskaltubo-Tsageri-Lentekhi-Lasdili highway near the village of Sakdari. In addition, as a result of heavy rains, the Enguri River washed away the reinforced concrete bridge on the 165 km section (Kala-Ifari) of the Zugdidi-Jvari-Mestia-Lasdili highway of domestic importance. Traffic was banned in both sections since the morning; in order to determine the work to be done to repair the damaged road infrastructure as soon as possible, the representatives of the Roads Department were informed of the situation on the spot in the morning.
In addition, the Roads Department, with the help of heavy equipment, is carrying out active cleaning and temporary road works, to eliminate the damage caused by the disaster and to restore traffic as soon as possible, additional equipment is being mobilized.
The Roads Department calls on both Georgian citizens and tourists to refrain from traveling in these directions and to obey the established road regimes.
At this time traffic in both directions is still prohibited.
