Anton Pliesnoi wins bronze in weightlifting at the Tokyo Olympics, bringing Georgia the fifth medal

On the 8th day of the Tokyo Olympic Games, Anton Pliesnoi, the current European champion in the -96 kg weight category, represented Georgia and won a bronze medal.

Pliesnoi lifted 177 kg in the snatch and 210 kg in the clean and jerk, combining a total of 387 kg.

The gold medal was won by Qatari Fares Ibrahim Elbakh, who lifted 402 kilograms and set a new Olympic record. Elbakh was followed by Venezuelan Keydomar Vallenilla, lifting a total of 387 kilograms.

For information, this is the fifth medal won by Georgia at the Tokyo Olympics. 4 medals were claimed by Georgian judokas - Lasha Bekauri, Guram Tushishvili, Vazha Margvelashvili and Lasha Shavdatuashvili, and one belongs to the weightlifter Anton Plesnoi.
