Prosecution Service indicts one person for violence against a foreign citizen in Batumi

The Prosecution Service has indicted L.Ch. for violence against a foreign citizen on July 30, - reports the Prosecutor's Office.

"The investigation carried out by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has established that in the morning of July 30, 2021, in the vicinity of the night club Spero in Batumi Boulevard, L.Ch. exerted violence on H.V.M. due to an argument, which caused the latter physical pain. During the interview, H.V.M. denied that discrimination-based violence was committed against him and that a security guard of the night club had exerted violence on him. As for the information disseminated in social media, where H.V.M. talked about violence motivated by discrimination and homophobia, the victim explained that spreading this information was caused by anxiety and that it was not true. L.Ch. was indicted under Article 126 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carries imprisonment for up to one year. The Prosecution Service will file a motion to the court on applying detention as a measure of constraint to the defendant within the time limit set by the law", - reads the statement.
