Kakha Kaladze: It is wrong to say that some people are offering us an assistance and we are so dumb that we are refusing the assistance is wrong

It is wrong to say that some people are offering us an assistance and we are so dumb that we are refusing the assistance is wrong, - Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said when commenting on the second tranche of the EU macro-financial assistance.

According to him, there is a significant difference between loans and assistance. Consequently, the talk that the government has refused an assistance serves to mislead the public.

"This is not an assistance, you are misleading the society. This is a loan. What is the difference between a loan and an assistance? You are trying to mislead the society. It is wrong to say that some people are offering us an assistance and we are so dumb that we are refusing the assistance is wrong,” said Kakha Kaladze.

According to the Georgian authorities, Georgia is refusing the 75 million euros allocated by the European Union. Members of the ruling team cite economic growth as the reason and say the government wants to reduce the amount of foreign debt.
