Media - Ukrainian Border Service launches official inquiry into Mikheil Saakashvili's departure

An official inquiry has been launched into the crossing of the Ukrainian state border by Mikheil Saakashvili, Director of the Executive Committee of the National Council for Reforms in Odessa, Ukrainian edition Censor.NET reports.

"On October 1, former President Mikheil Saakashvili was arrested in Georgia, who was wanted under three articles of the Criminal Code, and a new case was launched into the illegal crossing of the Georgian state border," said Yuri Butusov, Editor-in-Chief of the Censor.NET.

According to him, Saakashvili crossed the border illegally. He reportedly crossed the border by ferry.

Butusov notes that the Ukrainian Border Guard Service launched an official investigation into Saakashvili's departure from Ukraine, as Saakashvili's departure from Ukraine has not beenrecorded in the base.

At the same time, the editor-in-chief of Censor.NET writes that either for this reason or for some other reason, the Head of the Odessa Department of the Border Guard Service of Ukraine was temporarily suspended from duties.

"The Ukrainian authorities will have to provide an explanation to the Georgian government on how Saakashvili arrived in Georgia so that he was not noticed by the Ukrainian border guards," Butusov wrote.
