MIA releases a statement on UNM members finding signal jammer equipment in City Assembly and explains that the equipment is used to ensure smooth operation between police units

The Ministry of Internal Affairs released information about the equipment placed in the Tbilisi City Assembly building yesterday.

"We would like to inform the public regarding the technical appliances at Tbilisi City Council building on October 14. This is a mobile repeater (cell phone signal booster) - a police infrastructure that enhances both, the radio signal and the cellular connection. It is used to ensure smooth operation between police units. The mentioned equipment is designated and mobilized in cases where the mass management may be required, as well as uninterrupted communication between police units through the radio signals or mobile connection", - reads the statement.

For reference, Lile Liparteliani, a member of the Tbilisi Assembly from the United National Movement, told reporters during a protest rally yesterday that she had found internet jammer and surveillance devices on the third floor of the Assembly. According to her, a stranger brought suitcases from the third floor of the City Assembly, causing noise and attracting her attention. According to Liparteliani, the patrol police was called to the scene after the incident.

We would like to remind you that the information about the finding of the signal jammer equipment in the Assembly building was spread by the National Movement during the rally on Freedom Square yesterday.
