Special Penitentiary Service releases footage showing Mikheil Saakashvili’s transfer to Gldani prison medical facility

The Special Penitentiary Service has published the footage showing the transfer of Mikheil Saakashvili to the Gldani prison medical facility.

The footage shows Mikheil Saakashvili refusing to get out of the ambulance car, after which he was forcibly removed from the vehicle. According to the footage, Mikheil Saakashvili is taken by the prison administration staff by holding him with his legs and hands. The video shows that Mikheil Saakashvili is partly naked.

As for the entry in the ward, according to the footage, Mikheil Saakashvili first expresses verbal aggression against the staff and then there is a physical clash. In addition, the video shows Saakashvili knocking down one of the medical devices.

The Minister of Justice Rati Bregadze spoke at the briefing held today regarding the spread footage.

"The prisoner did not obey the lawful request of our employees. He physically and verbally abused our employees,” the Minister of Justice Rati Bregadze said at the press conference.
