Mikheil Saakashvili’s trial to continue without his presence

Former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili will no longer attend today's trial. The above became known before the announcement of a break.

At the trial, Saakashvili's lawyer, Beka Basilaia, voiced the doctors' recommendation that it be better to postpone the hearing due to the former president's health condition.

However, according to the decision of the panel of judges, the hearing will continue until 17:00, after the break.

"We have certain motions, which are quite voluminous and debatable. I did not expect today that his health condition would give Mikheil Saakashvili the opportunity to take part in the process for so many hours and make such a speech in front of the public. If it is not critically important today, we should postpone the process, and if it is important, we may continue and we are ready to submit motions,” Beka Basilaia addressed the panel of judges.

As for the question of the panel of judges regarding the motions, Saakashvili said before leaving the courtroom that he would agree with the position of the lawyers.
