Eka Gigauri: If the process initiated by the President does not help today's problems, then I cannot see my role or the role of Transparency International in it

I think it is very important to get some changes today as a result of the process initiated by the President, - Transparency International-Georgia Executive Director Eka Gigauri told reporters before the meeting with the President.

According to her, it is important for this process to make some contribution to solving today's problems.

"We are facing a serious problem. We have problems in terms of democracy, freedom of expression. There are many problems in the judiciary, people live in poverty and I think it is very important to have politicians who can make non-partisan decisions, make important initiatives that will solve today’s problems or at least, there will be an attempt to solve problems. In other cases, of course, it is important to evaluate the past, this is also a process, but if this process does not help today's problems, then I think that my role or the role of Transparency International will not be represented here. We need to talk about the challenges the country faces today”, she said.
