Human Rights Committee supported Lela Janashvili's candidacy for the post of the head of Personal Data Protection Service

The Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights and Civil Integration has supported Lela Janashvili's candidacy for the post of the head of the Personal Data Protection Service.

Seven MPs from the parliamentary majority took part in the voting and all seven unanimously supported Lela Janashvili's candidacy.

As for another nominee Tamar Alfaidze, two MPs - Mikheil Sarjveladze and Lado Kakhadze - supported her.

The head of the Personal Data Protection Service will be elected by the parliament by a majority of the full membership. Voting should be held on both candidates. The head of the Personal Data Protection Service will be elected by the parliament for a 6-year term. The Personal Data Protection Service was created as a result of the abolition of the State Inspector Service. In addition, Special Investigative Service was established as a separate state body.
