Russian President Vladimir Putin held an extraordinary meeting of the Security Council, where he said that he's considering the issue of recognition of the so-called people's republics of Donetsk and Luhansk.
"The purpose of today's meeting is to listen to our colleagues and outline our next steps in this direction - including the appeal of the leaders of the Donetsk people's republic and the Luhansk people's republic to Russia to recognize their sovereignty and the resolution of the State Duma," Putin said.
For the record, today the so-called leaders of the occupied regions of Ukraine - Donetsk and Luhansk - appealed to the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, for recognition of their "independence".
A few days ago, the Russian Duma supported a resolution that called on Vladimir Putin to recognize the occupied regions of Ukraine, Donetsk and Luhansk.
