The Republican Party of Georgia - We condemn Russia’s recognition of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics as independent states

The Republican Party of Georgia condemns Russia's decision to recognize part of Ukraine as independent states of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. Putin's decision is violation of Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. This is continuation of the annexation of Crimea and occupation process of the Donbass by Russian military intervention in Ukraine in 2014. The process in Ukraine is the same scenario of Russian occupation and "recognition" of the Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region in Georgia.

The Republican Party of Georgia expresses its great support and solidarity to the Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. The actions by Russia are aimed to disrupt the international order. We are confident that our Western partners - the United States, the United Kingdom and the entire international community - will respond strongly and united to Russia's actions against the world order. The new wave of the Cold War will end with defeat of Russian imperialist intentions. Georgia and Ukraine have European and Euro-Atlantic perspective - a perspective of prosperity and security.

The lack of supportive steps taken by Government of Georgia for our strategic partner is assessed as shameful by the Republican Party of Georgia. Unfortunately, encouraged by the authorities, different anti-Western and Kremlin-supported groups have emerged again in Georgia, joined by some ignorant individuals supporting the idea of "neutrality". These anti-state activities are totally unacceptable.
