Irakli Kobakhidze: Georgia is the only country to launch a large-scale campaign against Russian citizens - discrimination against people on ethnic grounds is an unbelievable phenomenon for the civilized world

Georgia is the only country to launch a large-scale campaign against Russian citizens. Discrimination against people on ethnic grounds is an unbelievable phenomenon for the civilized world, - Irakli Kobakhidze, the chairman of the Georgian Dream, said at the briefing.

According to him, the Parliament of Georgia has already started working on tightening the bill directed against discrimination on ethnic grounds and incitement to ethnic hatred.

"Probably, it is already clear to everyone that there is a war party in Georgia, the only goal of which is to somehow involve Georgia in the military conflict. This is the purpose of the covert campaign against the Georgian government's decisions regarding sanctions and volunteers. We would like to remind the society once again that the involvement of Georgia in the military conflict, which is the desire of the war party - National Movement, will have the worst consequences for our country and population. Accordingly, the government will do everything possible to prevent the country and the Georgian people from war and its irreparable consequences. Another manifestation of the intention of the war party is a new campaign launched against Russian citizens in Georgia. Of particular concern is the fact that this campaign, which is a very gross manifestation of discrimination and chauvinism, involves the so-called NGOs associated with the National Movement, one of the main missions of which should have been to prevent all forms of discrimination and ethnic hatred. We also note that the campaign grossly violates Article 11 of the Constitution of Georgia, which prohibits discrimination on ethnic grounds without any reservation.

There is no justification for the war started by Russia in Ukraine. Violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of an independent state is inadmissible and we condemn this gravest act once again. However, punishing innocent citizens for this action is also completely inadmissible and categorically unacceptable”, said Irakli Kobakhidze.
