The world has not had such a challenge in Europe since World War II. A large-scale war is ongoing with Russia in Ukraine, the largest state in Europe. Against this background, we, the economic team of the Government, are trying to achieve economic growth in the country, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili said at today's governmental session.

As the head of the Government noted, specific important measures are planned to be implemented from April.

"The world has not had such a challenge in Europe since World War II. A large-scale war is ongoing with Russia in Ukraine, the largest state in Europe. Against this background, we, the economic team of the Government, are trying to achieve economic growth in the country. To this end, let me remind you, I have instructed the economic team and we have started work to give incentive to construction in April and the team is already ready for projects. We want to start an employment program intensively from April and to take many other steps that will dramatically improve the situation in the country.

I would like to remind our dear citizens, the population, that according to the fuel prices, as of March 21, Georgia was 71st among 170 countries in the world. 99 countries have more expensive petrol than Georgia. I would also like to explain to our citizens that gas prices have risen sharply in Europe, there had not been such a thing earlier. 2-3 weeks ago the price of 1000 cubic meters of natural gas reached $ 3,900 per cubic meter and do you remember how much we pay for natural gas? This is social gas and this is commercial gas. Since this is a commercial secret, we cannot say specifically, but under the contract that the Government has signed with Azerbaijan, I would say that we are the second or third country in Europe in terms of cheap gas prices, after Azerbaijan. The cheapest gas in Europe is in Georgia, after Azerbaijan. Therefore, we ask everyone to show more responsibility in this situation, in such a crisis, and not to mislead citizens. In Europe, 1,000 cubic meters of gas cost $ 3,900 just 3 weeks ago, while in Georgia citizens pay about $ 120 for it. This is a big difference, utility bills have increased ten times all over Europe and there is a very difficult situation. I want all of us to understand this, especially the politicians who come out and tell lies to our citizens," he said.

Michał Kobosko - we hope that your government eventually would either choose the European way, the democratic way or would resign seeing the number, the size and scale of the citizens' protests
