In connection with the statement of the Ukrainian intelligence, we demand the launch of an investigation with the involvement of international investigators, Levan Khabeishvili, one of the leaders of the United National Movement, said at a briefing.
According to him, yesterday's statement from the intelligence service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is serious and the Georgian Government needs to respond to it.
As the oppositionist noted, today inside the country and abroad, the level of trust in the Georgian Dream is low and, therefore, it is important to launch an investigation into this accusation, with the involvement of international investigators.
"Unfortunately, we have to talk about issues related to our statehood. In recent days and weeks, the Georgian Government has, in fact, been waging an aggressive campaign against the Ukrainian Government, which has escalated into an open confrontation. The Russian party is directly attacking the Ukrainian Government in accordance with the instructions received from the Kremlin, and this is done by high-ranking officials on a daily basis with so-called briefings. Unfortunately for us, there are two countries left in the world that do this - Russia and Georgia.
It is important to respond to the official statement of the Ukrainian intelligence and the official position of Ukraine, which, in fact, caused hysteria among the Georgian authorities. We have to tell the public directly - obviously, this is the gravest accusation, obviously, it all needs to be confirmed, however, instead of the hysteria and attacks on the Ukrainian Government, the Georgian Government had time to launch an investigation following the release of this statement. Georgian law provides that after a public statement is made which indicates a crime, it is possible to launch an investigation. The Georgian Government has had and has the opportunity to involve international investigators in this investigation. They still have the opportunity to launch an investigation into the matter and involve international investigators.
The fact that, unfortunately, we have doubts and are very worried about it is the fault of the Georgian Dream itself. For example, Kakhi Kaladze's contract worth 170 million GEL, which was signed not with a Russian company, but with a Russian state company, directly or indirectly means financing the war, because this contract was signed during the war. Despite the war, this agreement is not terminated by the Mayor of the capital, and in the conditions of the war, Kaladze intends to transfer sums to the Russian state company at the expense of the debt of our citizens, the company which then produces military equipment.
We call for an investigation into intelligence and the involvement of international investigators. It is complete madness to present evidence, we all know very well that intelligence does not disclose such information. We can start an investigation here, involve international investigators and avoid the worst shame for our country," Levan Khabeishvili said.
According to the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, Russia is creating smuggling channels for military and other products under sanctions, which will pass through the territory of Georgia with the consent of the Georgian authorities.
