German Bundestag adopts resolution supporting Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia on their European path

The German Bundestag supports Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia "on their European path". German Ambassador to Georgia Hubert Knirsch told InterPressNews about it.

According to Hubert Knirsch, the resolution was submitted jointly by the three parliamentary groups of the ruling coalition and the largest opposition group, the CDU / CSU. The resolution emphasizes that the fulfillment of all the criteria of Article 49 of the Treaty on European Union is a precondition for accession.

"I'm pleased to announce that on 28 April the German Parliament / Bundestag passed a resolution 'Defending Peace and Freedom' expressing parliamentary support for federal assistance to Ukraine, including the supply of heavy weapons systems.

In this context, the Bundestag calls for the assistance of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia, "on their European path." The resolution emphasizes that fulfillment of all the criteria of Article 49 of the Treaty on European Union is a precondition for accession and that the EU's capacity to admit new members must be increased.

The resolution was submitted jointly by the three parliamentary groups of the ruling coalition and the largest opposition group, the CDU / CSU," said Hubert Knirsch.
