Anatoly Bibilov appoints referendum on unification with Russia for July 17

The incumbent de facto president of Occupied South Ossetia, Anatoly Bibilov, has announced a date for the so-called referendum on unification with Russia.

According to the local media, the so-called referendum be held on July 17.

According to Bibilov, the "big dream" will soon come true, because South Ossetia and Russia have “a common history" and the time has come to get united "once and for all."

"The relevant documents have been submitted to the court. We are waiting for the court decision and in the near future, our big dream will come true. Russia and South Ossetia are linked by a common history. It is not just about partnership and friendship. It is more a relationship of two brothers, when the older brother always understands and supports the younger brother, while the younger one respects and helps the older one. The time has come to get united once and for all. This means the beginning of a new history," Bibilov said.
