Levan Davitashvili: We will take over the shares of Borjomi from the sanctioned persons to enable the company to function fully, and this is not a temporary measure

According to the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitashvili, the transfer of the shares of the Borjomi company to state ownership is not a temporary measure and the sanctioned persons will be removed from the company so that there are no more questions and the company can function fully.

As Davitashvili stated at the plenary sitting of the Parliament, the above is not carried out through bypassing sanctions.

"No sanctions are being circumvented. We have provided information to all our international partners. The state is receiving part of Borjomi shares into ownership, which will allow the company not to be under the control of sanctioned persons any longer. However, there are too many legal nuances that need to be agree with various regulators who have introduced these sanctions. I mean European and British regulators along with the National Bank. Of course, this required the study of a lot of legal processes and the process is not completed yet. The Government will make a decision in the near future and we will share information with the public. However, the concrete thing is that we will take over the shares of Borjomi from the sanctioned persons so that there are no more questions and the company is able to function fully, and this is not a temporary measure," Davitashvili said.
