Vladimir Putin signs the so-called law on dual citizenship agreement with occupied Tskhinvali region

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a federal law ratifying the dual citizenship agreement between so-called South Ossetia and Russia, Russian media reported.

According to them, the law allows citizens of "these countries" to obtain "citizenship of another country" without renouncing their citizenship.

The agreement enters into force on the date of exchange of ratifications and is valid for five years. It shall be automatically extended for the following five-year period unless, six months before the end of that period, either party notifies the other through official channels of its intention to terminate it.
