“We do our best within our mandate and talk to our European family members. As a result, the ALDE Congress passed a resolution initiated by the Georgian opposition parties and called on the Commission to support granting candidate status to the country,” said Khatuna Samnidze, chairwoman of the Republican Party, who is attending the ADLE congress in Ireland.
"The questions raised by the Georgian Dream in the society and among our European partners must be answered. We do our best within our mandate, whatever opportunities the opposition has. We try in the European family to bring all the arguments and talk to them personally. As a result of this very efforts the congress called on the Commission to grant candidate status to the country. Although Georgia has very bad authorities, we should still be optimistic. Partners will give us a European perspective, but with concrete and very strict reservations due to the current situation," Khatuna Samnidze said.
A resolution in support of Georgia’s European integration, which was initiated by the Republican Party, Strategy Builder, Free Democrats, Girchi - More Freedom and Lelo was passed at the ALDE Congress underway in Dublin.
