POLITICO: Emmanuel Macron says the EU should send a “clear and positive signal” to Ukraine and Moldova relating to EU candidacy status, while Georgia is in “a different place geopolitically”

French President Emmanuel Macron said Wednesday that he wanted the EU to send a “clear and positive signal” to Ukraine and Moldova ahead of a decision next week on whether they should be granted EU candidacy status, POLITICO reports.

“I want us to send a clear and positive signal, but we have to build unanimity among EU members. I don’t think we can dissociate Moldova from Ukraine in the prospects that we give,” he said, speaking alongside Maia Sandu, Moldova’s president.

According to POLITICO, Georgia will also be on the table as a potential candidate, a country Macron said was in “a different place geopolitically.”
