The US Embassy in Georgia has released a statement regarding the altercation between members of the Georgian Dream and Vato Tsereteli, the founder of Pirveli TV, during a reception held at the Embassy today.

According to them, they are aware of the reports of an altercation and are looking into these reports.

“The U.S. Embassy is aware of reports of an altercation during our Independence Day event on the Embassy compound. We are looking into these reports”, the Embassy said.

Vato Tsereteli, the founder of TV Pirveli, alleges that Georgian Dream lawmakers assaulted him on the territory of the US Embassy.

“Georgian Dream MPs attacked me on the territory of the US Embassy. In the yard of the American Embassy, ​​where 200 or 300 guests were invited. I am shocked. I appeal to Kelly Degnan to make the footage public, to give it to the media and show people how the Georgian Dream MPs are beating people​," Tsereteli said.

Vato Tsereteli named specific persons.

"Anri Okhanashvili started to move towards me, he was followed by Zarkua, Odisharia, Mgaloblishvili. He held my hand and started arguing with me. Okhanashvili was shouting something. Then he hit me in my face and then someone else also hit me," he said on TV Pirveli.

Anri Okhanashvili, a member of the Georgian Dream, responded to the incident at the US Embassy, stating that Vato Tsereteli, the founder of TV Pirveli, was responded for his "dirtiest provocation".
