According to MEP Viola von Cramon, de-oligarchization is necessary for all countries that want to join the EU and Georgia is facing this problem. As von Cramon notes, that is why the 12 recommendations proposed by the European Union include de-oligarchization.
Cramon said that the partners are very worried about the recent developments in Georgia, including the situation related to media freedom, the verdicts against various activists, media representatives, and former President Mikheil Saakashvili.
The MEP also pointed out the role of Bidzina Ivanishvili, saying that he is an extremely rich person who actually rules the country, affecting the whole structure by taking over the state.
