Levan Ioseliani: Russia is a dangerous country, but it is much more dangerous if the US stops supporting Georgia on the international stage

Russia is a dangerous country, but it is much more dangerous if the US stops supporting Georgia on the international stage. Our policy of non-recognition relies on US efforts, Citizens party MP Levan Ioseliani said on PalitraNews.

According to him, Georgia's relations with its strategic partner should be at an even higher level.

"Nobody has recognized Abkhazia and Samachablo, and the USA has made the biggest contribution to this, otherwise a lot of countries would have done this, especially when Russia held quite strong positions in Europe. The current attitude, because they don't like the Ambassador or because these messages are necessary to maintain power, in my opinion, is very ungrateful. The public realizes that the messages that are anti-Western, anti-European and anti-American are targeting a very narrow group, because all the surveys confirm that the sentiments in Georgia are pro-Western. Our citizens want to see their future under the umbrella of NATO and the EU, which means security, prosperity and human rights.

Georgian Dream has been trying to sit on "two chairs" for a long time, there is simply no more space for it, this policy has already reached a dead end. It was caused by the events in Ukraine, the world has been divided into two parts - those who are on the side of the evil and those who are on the side of the light. None of us are so stupid as not to realize the danger that comes from Russia, when their tanks are actually 40 kilometers away from our capital. Understanding this, it is therefore important that our relationship with the strategic partner be at an even higher level in order to insure the risk of Russian intervention in Georgia," said Ioseliani.

According to him, the USA does not betray its partners easily, regardless of the Government's position in a specific situation.

"They primarily support the Georgian people, and only after that they support a political group or a party. They are interested in the opinion of our citizens, and it is important for them that the sentiments in this country are pro-Western," said Levan Ioseliani.
