According to the decision of the For Georgia party, Kutaisi City Council member Nino Chikvashvili was expelled from the party, the executive secretary of the For Georgia party, Berdia Sichinava, said at the briefing.
"Despite the worst tragedy that happened yesterday in the capital, Georgian Dream finds time to continue the fight against our political party throughout the country.
Once again, we would like to express our condolences to Marita Meparishvili's family. We apologize to the public that we have to hold a briefing on this matter on this difficult day, but the worthlessness of the Dream left us with no other choice. According to the decision of the For Georgia party, Kutaisi City Council member Nino Chikvashvili has been expelled from the party. Nino Chikvashvili, who became a member of the Kutaisi City Council from the list of our party, had been actively blackmailed for the past few months with financial sanctions of the private schools owned by her and various pressure mechanisms. Nino Chikvashvili was pressured by the State Security Service, the Revenue Service and the local self-government," said Berdia Sichinava.
According to him, the proposal from the Government was that Nino Chikvashvili had to leave the party and remain an independent deputy in the City Council.
As Berdia Sichinava notes, in return, Dream offered her to solve the issue of financial sanctions, and as a bonus, to open channels of additional opportunities.
"For several months, our team had been advising Nino Chikvashvili to openly and publicly talk about the pressure exerted by Georgian Dream and to hope for our team’s support. However, in the end, Chikvashvili could not withstand the pressure exerted by the Dream, State Security Service and the Revenue Service and fully followed their demands. Those, who sell their soul to the Dream, take money from them and choose their mercantile interest over the great idea of the development of the state, cannot be with us," said Berdia Sichinava.
