Irakli Kobakhidze: Ivanishvili is being blackmailed secretly, they are using informal sanctions for this, I think it is better for them to come out as men and say that they are imposing some sanctions

They don't know Ivanishvili, they don't know that he can't be intimidated either by informal or formal blackmail, Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of the Georgian Dream party, told journalists.

Kobakhidze responded to the draft resolution of the EPP and noted that Ivanishvili already has informal sanctions and it is better to impose formal sanctions, because the society will better assess what is behind the sanctions.

Irakli Kobakhidze claims that Ivanishvili is being blackmailed to return to politics, to open a second front.

"Such documents are not interesting for the public, when such unfair statements are made, the public sees and assesses everything. As for the sanctions against Ivanishvili, they keep using this topic, in fact, Bidzina Ivanishvili himself explained that she had been imposed informal sanctions, hundreds of millions of dollars have been frozen, which is located in a Swiss bank, informal sanctions have already been imposed, and it might be better to formalize these informal sanctions on the part of these people who are trying to blackmail Bidzina Ivanishvili for a specific purpose. I think it is better if they come out as men and say that they are imposing some sanctions, and the society will better assess what is behind these sanctions and what is the purpose of blackmail, what is being asked of Ivanishvili and why they are asking him to return to politics. They are trying to blackmail him for the sole purpose of getting him back into politics, to do something against his will, as he himself hinted to the public when he published the famous letter. It is better to come out with formal sanctions than informal sanctions," said Kobakhidze.

When asked whether Ivanishvili will return to politics if formal sanctions are imposed, Kobakhidze states that no one can make him do anything against his will.

"Where do you draw those conclusions from? He is already being blackmailed and does not enter politics and does not ask us to do what we do not want to do, he did not ask us for a "second front", despite such a huge blackmail - despite the blackmail of 2 billion, he still did not ask us for a "second front". Which formal sanction will scare this man? They don't know Ivanishvili, they don't know that they can't intimidate him with either informal or formal blackmail. They can't make him take a single step against his will, they want this man to return to politics for a specific purpose, and this purpose is to open a "second front" in Georgia , of course, they will not achieve this," Kobakhidze said.

He also commented on the fact that the National Movement is a member of the political family of the EPP and stated that this is against the values on which "the European Union should stand".

"The National Movement is a member of the EPP, and when a member of a European party and political family is a criminal association, it is disturbing. This applies to both the National Movement and European Georgia. The criminal party is a member of the EPP, which is worrying. It directly contradicts the values on which the European Union should stand," Kobakhidze said.

Michał Kobosko - we hope that your government eventually would either choose the European way, the democratic way or would resign seeing the number, the size and scale of the citizens' protests
