Khatia Dekanoidze says if Government proposes consultations for Public Defender’s election, she is ready to get involved

I and the representatives of my faction will fight for this country to have an independent Public Defender, one of the leaders of the National Movement, Khatia Dekanoidze, told journalists.

According to Dekanoidze, if there is a proposal from the Government to hold consultations during the election process of the Public Defender, she is ready to get involved.

"Although I am not really optimistic about this process, I will tell you my position and I don't feel that everyone can agree with me. I and the representatives of my faction will fight for this country to have an independent Public Defender. This is my very firm position, although it is possible that other opposition parties, who are outside the Parliament, have a different idea. I believe that fighting for this country on all fronts and in all arenas is really necessary. This is my very strong opinion. The first consultations that we had did not bring any results, but if there is another proposal from Georgian Dream for some kind of consultation, I think that we should not oppose it. So far, I do not see a step forward in this direction. Our position is known regarding the Public Defender. This position is as follows - we support the person who received the highest grade, but let's see, next week is sessional and a lot of things will be clarified ", said Dekanoidze.
