The Polish Government will not stop fighting for President Saakashvili's health, we have repeatedly offered him treatment in our country, Małgorzata Gosiewska, Deputy Speaker of the Polish Sejm, said in an interview with the Polish publication PAP.
"It can be said that he is dying in front of our eyes, in front of the eyes of the whole world, and the Government of Georgia is involved in this," said the vice-speaker of the Seimas.
According to her, representatives of the Polish Government, including President Andrzej Duda, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, as well as Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau, have repeatedly raised the issue of Saakashvili's imprisonment during bilateral negotiations with the Georgian side and at international meetings.
"We have often suggested in conversations and letters that Saakashvili should be admitted for treatment in Poland. There is no consent for that. We asked and proposed that his health be assessed by an international medical commission. There is no consent for that," said Małgorzata Gosiewska.
According to her, in the last weeks, Saakashvili has sharply lost weight and his physical condition has worsened, which is probably the result of his poisoning with neurotoxins.
"These neurotoxins somehow got into President Saakashvili's body while he was in prison, so the Georgian Government is directly responsible and this will have consequences for them," said Małgorzata Gosiewska.
