Irakli Kobakhidze: The European Union calls for depolarization with one hand and finances polarization with the other hand - it's a problem when polarization is financed from the outside

The European Union calls for depolarization with one hand and finances polarization with the other hand - it's a problem when polarization is financed from the outside! - Irakli Kobakhidze, the leader of the majority, told journalists.

According to Kobakhidze, after the law on "Transparency of foreign influence" comes into force and the relevant register is made, the public will know who is financing the organizations whose goal is to incite polarization in Georgia.

“For example, there is an organization called Shame whose main goal and purpose is to incite polarization. This is the extremist wing of the National Movement. This organization receives funding directly from the European Union.

On one side there is Shame, on the other side there is Alt Info, on the third side - the Primakov Foundation, on the other side - some other organization, and their funding comes from foreign sources.

We say that the activities of none of these organizations will be restricted, but the public should have information about who is financing them and for what purposes. Everything should be transparent, and if someone hides finances, the relevant agencies will get interested in this - including the National Agency of Public Registry, which will have the right to monitor.

Let me remind you that there was a topic of Namakhvani HPP construction... from specific foreign sources - maybe it was Russian commercial sources or maybe other sources, but there were specific organizations that participated in blocking the construction of this HPP. The main purpose of this was to inadequately provide the energy security of Georgia.

When the register is established, the public will have information on all organizations and their funding. Based on this, the society will be able to make its own conclusion as to whose interest it was to block the HPP and why countermeasures were financed", said Irakli Kobakhidze.
