Helsinki Commission: The proposed foreign agent law in Georgia is an assault on the country's weakening democracy, a deliberate gift to Russia

The proposed foreign agent law in Georgia is an assault on the country's weakening democracy, a deliberate gift to Russia, and a direct challenge to the Georgian people's consistent Euro-Atlantic choice, reads a statement issued by the Helsinki Commission on the so-called agent draft laws of Georgia.

According to the statement, the draft law does not resemble FARA in any way.

“The United States values our strategic partnership with Georgia, but this foreign agent law is an intentional rebuke of our bilateral relationship and a further invitation to the occupier Russia, in whose embrace corruption, vassalage, and betrayal await”, the organization said.
