POLITICO: Bill Browder calls on EU to impose sanctions on those responsible for Mikheil Saakashvili's condition

Billionaire businessman and Kremlin critic Bill Browder is turning his focus to a new target — Georgia — and is urging the EU to sanction those responsible for the condition of detained former President Mikheil Saakashvili, whose health is deteriorating rapidly, POLITICO reports.

According to Browder, "there needs to be quicker action in this case because if nothing is done, he is going to die".

"The Magnitsky sanctions are not Russian sanctions. These are global … it applies globally. And if somebody is found to be a human rights violator, someone is perpetrating gross human rights violations — which I think is obvious in his case — then the sanctions should apply," Browder stated.
