The Special Investigation Service arrested four persons for disclosure of secrets of personal life  and for sexual coercion and exposed one person for dissemination of personal correspondence

In January-March 2023, the Special Investigation Service opened five cases of disclosure of secrets of personal life, sexual coercion, dissemination of personal correspondence and the threat of killing.

In particular, the conducted investigation established that 27-year-old B.T., who lives in Kvareli municipality, 2022-2023 unlawfully stored the victim’s naked body videos obtained by deception through the social network "Facebook". In addition, the accused by threatening the victim to make videos public, asked the woman to send other videos of her naked body as well as to have sexual relations with the person named by him. Thus, he disclosed secrets of her personal life and sexual freedom.

On 14 March 2023, the Special Investigation Service arrested accused B.T. and charged under Article 157¹, Paragraph 1 and Article 139, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The offense shall be punished by imprisonment for a term of up to 7 years.

The conducted investigation established that from the period of August 8 to November 2022, L.Kh., born in 2002 in Riketi village of Khulo municipality, during telephone communication and meetings with the victim by threatening her to make public photos and videos of intimate content, established sexual relations several times with her by coercion.

As a result of investigative actions conducted by the Special Investigation Service, on 23 January 2023, the accused L. Kh. was arrested and charged under Article 139, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, The offense shall be punished by imprisonment for a term of up to 5 years.

The Special Investigation Service revealed 49-year-old G.K. for violation of the secrecy of personal correspondence. The conducted investigation established that, in September 2020, due to the ownership attitude towards another person, unlawfully obtained and opened correspondence between the victim and a third person on the social network "Facebook", G.K. got acquainted with the content and took so-called "screenshots" of this correspondence. Despite the request of the victim to delete the material, G.K. stored them unlawfully in his mobile phone, thereby violating the secrecy of personal correspondence. G. K was charged under Article 159, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The crime shall be punished by imprisonment for up to 3 years.

This year, as a result of investigative activities carried out by the Special Investigation Service, two persons N.I., born in 2000, living in Gardabani district, and A Y., born in 1985, living in Tskaltubo municipality, were arrested for obtaining another person’s intimate content photos, videos and correspondence and making them public on the grounds of gender intolerance. They were charged under Article 1571, Paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which shall be punished by imprisonment for a term of 4 to 8 years.

The Special Investigation Service actively continues to prevent the facts of disclosure of secrets of personal life and to identify persons exposed to crime.
